Why? This site will pretend to be serious for the moment, because I think it deserves to be.
I know there are numerous people that don't like these kinds of sites, and I know that here are others that love them. I can understand both. Let me explain both reasonings, under my own observations and opinions of course... No matter how weak and lame they are.
Some hardcore respectful fans believe that exploiting full scans of doujinshi is wrong. The circles don't get paid squwat for what they are doing, and all the money that is filtered in is simply to pay for the production of the books. It's hard work that they do so they can get recognized into the manga business. Hard work that can be crushed if intrest over seas and on shores is deminished.
This site is not meant to be disrespectful of the artists that make the doujinshi. It is not my intention to lessen their ability to sell doujinshi. If I ever get contacted by an upset circle, I will remove the doujinshi from the site and my harddrive. But to tell you the truth, it was sites with full doujinshi scans that got me intrested in buying them myself. I've poured about $100 into this addiction and I intend to pour a few more hundred into as time rolls on.
However, doujinshi are copyrighted and by scanning the pages and reproducing them to the public I am breaking that copyright. That is true. I cannot disagree with this fact. Perhaps that makes me less of the woman in this argument.
But there are people that love sites like this. Doujinshi aren't exactly the cheapest things to get a hold of. Getting the nicest doujinshi isn't exactly the easiet thing to do. It's a hunt for both the buyers and the viewers. I used to be on the hunt for sites like this for days at a time. I know other people are the same way. It's what sparked my intrest to buy them, show them, and love them all at the same time. It goes without question that some people that view these pages will do the same as me and start purchasing them for personal enjoyment. You can't really learn to appreciate doujinshi until you can see them fully, then you can't get enough of them. I know.
Art can be an addiction. I don't have to understand the words of the comic to enjoy them. I appreciate art no matter its form, because I'm an artist myself. Granted, I suck compared to, well, everybody, but I still love it.
I just thought this had to be said, even though I did a bad job of saying it.
